SBI Careers

The State Bureau of Investigation is North Carolina’s premier law enforcement agency.  The SBI offers an exciting variety of law enforcement positions for sworn law enforcement officers and non-sworn analysts and other personnel.

 

Sworn SBI Special Agents conduct criminal investigations and assist local, federal, and other state law enforcement agencies.  SBI Special Agents are assigned to district offices across the state.  Special Agents may also specialize in financial crimes and computer crimes.

 

For those interested in forensics, the SBI maintains the only statewide forensic laboratory service in North Carolina.  The State Crime Lab employs specialists in the areas of drug chemistry and toxicology, firearms, and DNA analysis.  The Western Crime Lab is located in Asheville and the Triad Crime Lab is located in Greensboro.
