Stay safe from storm scams, price gouging

We hope that Hurricane Earl stays well out at sea.  But since the storm is expected to come close to the North Carolina coast, take the time to read the following  tips for consumers:
Read tips on avoiding con artists who’ll use natural disasters as an excuse to rip you off.
 
North Carolina’s strong price gouging law is now in effect.  Learn how the law protects you, and how to spot and report price gouging.
 
If Hurricane Earl is threatening your Labor Day vacation plans, learn what your rights are if you’ve rented a beach house or booked a hotel room.
