Advisory: NC Justice Academy to celebrate 40th anniversary Tuesday

Attorney General Roy Cooper, current and former Academy directors to speak
Salemburg: The North Carolina Justice Academy will celebrate 40 years of training law enforcement officers at a 40th anniversary ceremony on Tuesday, April 8 beginning at 11:00 AM.
Attorney General Roy Cooper will deliver remarks at the ceremony at 11:30 AM, followed by current director of the Justice Academy, Mark Strickland, and retired directors Peggy Schaefer and Martie Stanford. Demonstrations will be available afterwards at the firing range and driving track.
The North Carolina Justice Academy, a part of the NC Department of Justice headed by Cooper, provides training to criminal justice personnel and offers technical help to agencies upon request. Law enforcement officers from across North Carolina can obtain specialized law enforcement skills and tactical training through the Academy’s courses.
The 40th anniversary celebration will take place at the North Carolina Justice Academy’s eastern campus, located at 200 W. College Street in Salemburg. Campus tours will be available after the program. More information is available at www.ncja.ncdoj.gov.
