Cooper to head Southern Region of the National Association of AGs
Raleigh: North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper has been selected to serve as chair of the Southern Region of the National Association of Attorneys General.
“I look forward to working with attorneys general from surrounding states to find new ways we can cooperate to fight crime and protect consumers,” said Cooper.
Cooper was chosen for the leadership post at a recent meeting of state attorneys general and will chair the group for the next year. Along with North Carolina the Southern Region includes attorneys general from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.
Cooper is working to plan a meeting of southern attorneys general for later this year in North Carolina to focus on the issue of drug trafficking.
“Regional cooperation can help us tackle problems such as drugs that go beyond our own state’s boundaries,” Cooper said.
