Domestic Violence Statistics

North Carolina compiles annual statistics on domestic violence related homicides.

Data about these tragic crimes can help policymakers, law enforcement, and victims’ advocates understand the scope of the problem and find solutions.

The program began in July of 2007. The first year for which annual statistics are available is 2008.

2013 Report on Domestic Violence Related Homicides
Until the 2013 Report, these statistics were maintained by the North Carolina Department of Justice. By statute, responsibility for compiling and reporting these statistics now resides with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety.

Annual reports on domestic violence related homicides for more recent years can be found here.
