RALEIGH – Attorney General Jeff Jackson intervened in a PSNC-Enbridge rate case to protect North Carolinians from unfair rising energy costs. In his brief to the North Carolina Utilities Commission, Attorney General Jackson is challenging riders that PSNC wants to use to recover future costs from ratepayers. These riders allow PSNC to recover costs outside of the traditional ratemaking process.

“North Carolina families are already facing higher energy bills this winter, and PSNC is trying to include riders that add on costs that will not go through the comprehensive review of a general rate case,” said Attorney General Jeff Jackson. “I’m asking the Utilities Commission to reject these riders and protect North Carolina ratepayers.”

The Commission is expected to make its decision by January 26, 2026.

This case is part of Attorney General Jackson’s continued efforts to protect North Carolina’s ratepayers. Earlier this month, he intervened to review Duke Energy’s proposed 15 percent rate increase for ratepayers over the next two years.
